In the books of Ahadith, we can find many quotations from Torah. These quotations are very interesting for a student of religious studies. This article is a study of Such Ahadith from the book “Al Zuhad”, compiled by Ahmad bin Hanbal.[i] This study throws light on different aspects of the Muslim studying the teachings of other religions. It creates a curiosity to find out the methodology adopted by Muslims to study the scriptures of other religions. In this article, after collecting the Ahadith from the book, the authenticity of those traditions has been discussed in light of the principles of the field. After that, it is discussed that either the quoted teachings are present in the contemporary Torah or not and if present, how much similar they are to the teachings quoted in Ahadith. This is a descriptive and analytical study. By this comparison, we will come to know how Torah was studied in that age and to what extent the method was authentic and reliable which was adopted to convey the findings of Torah’s study.
