Abstract

Depending on the number of reporters of the hadith in each stage of the isnad, it can be classified into the general categories of Mutawatir (consecutive) or Ahad (single) hadeeth. Ahad narrations are sub-divided into many types such as `Azeez, Mashoor, and ghareeb . Each again branches into some more types, But the general definition would be that a report that does not reach the level of water is usually called a khabar-wahad and this is the topic that will be discussed in this paper (Hujiat Khabar Wahid: An Investigative Study of Reasoning from the Qur'an and Sunnah.) This topic will shed light on the viewpoints of both sides those who accept the authority of khabarul wahid and those who do not take it and will also discuss a huge number of narrations describing the importance of a prophetic tradition and focus on the issue of mutawatir vs ahad. This is to convey the gist of the information in a short quick way and also keep it brief. One of the reasons that attracted us to this topic is its importance because it covers a large portion of many hadiths, and the other reason for this is its great influence on understanding the meaning and arrangement of hadiths. Jurists differ in acting or responding to it.
